AMY SMITH
Born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, I am a graphic designer and illustrator with a love for both the intricate and the bold, the minimal and the expressive. My work is shaped by my surroundings. Cape Town’s vibrant creative energy, the diverse cultures I have encountered through travel, and the simple, everyday moments that spark inspiration all play a role in how I approach design.
Since graduating with a degree in Visual Communication in 2019 and a distinction in graphic design, I have explored a wide range of design disciplines. My experience spans in-house branding and marketing, agency work, advertising, website design, and illustration, with projects for both local businesses and international clients.
I am seeking opportunities that truly resonate with me. Projects that are thoughtful, functional, and expressive, and that allow me to create work that connects with people, whether by solving a real problem or simply bringing a smile to someone’s face.

Oh, and the green-eyed critter you see to the left is my dæmon, Periwinkle. Who offers “emotional support” (stares at me with unceasing neutrality). He is one of two orcas (tuxedo cats) who keep me company in my electic apartment under table mountain.
Follow me on my studio Instagram, it's where the design happens when I feel like it. It’s a little less formal than this, and I’m trying to share bits and bobs more often.
Follow me on my personal Instagram, if you would like to keep up with almost-daily procrastination station, circa 2014. You have my permission to scroll down as far as you like.
